University of Melbourne Professors to lead seminar

The School of Science, Technology and Health| at UCS is pleased to welcome two renowned Australian Professors from the University of Melbourne to the Ipswich Waterfront Campus this Friday, 19th August to lead a special seminar.

In addition her role as Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health at Melbourne University, Professor Suzanne Garland is also Director of Microbiological Research and Head of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the Royal Women's Hospital. She will be leading a talk on ‘The Australian experience: benefits from human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in a real life setting’, a topic for which she is known internationally.

Professor John Wark is Head of the Bone and Mineral Service at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, as well as Professor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne. He will give a talk entitled ‘The young female health initiative (YFHI): a whole new world of research opportunities’. This is an innovative, holistic, prospective health study in young women, which includes examining the use of state-of-the-art information and communication technologies in recruitment, retention and data gathering, as well as looking at the broad scope of the study across multiple health domains, enabling significant advantages in cost-efficiency and in the ability to examine interactions between health domains.
