Leaders and Practitioners discuss the future of healthcare in Suffolk

Educational leaders and healthcare practitioners from across the region came together today for an interactive workshop to discuss the 2011 Health and Social Care Bill and the provision for Nurses and Midwives at UCS for 2011/12.

UCS delivered the event with the support of Suffolk County Workforce Group| at Ipswich Town Football Club to initiate dialogue and debate between leaders and practitioners to ensure the provision outlined for UCS meets the needs of staff working within the NHS and independent sector.

Kathy Branson, Head of Education and Development at the East of England Multi-Professional Deanery, gave the keynote speech at the event, sharing her experiences and interpretations of the Heath and Social Care Bill. Delegates were also able to share their opinions on relevant healthcare issues during the presentations by voting via ‘clickers’ which will later provide data for analysis.

Anne Johnson, Head of Division of Health in the School of Science, Technology and Health|, said: “The conference is all about communicating with stakeholders to find out how UCS should most appropriately deliver programmes in Health. Changes in funding mean that we need to work with employers to ensure we maximise our resources“.
