UCS lecturer Hannah Abbott has been appointed as Chair of the Education and Standards Committee for the College of Operating Department Practitioners (CODP). The independent professional body represents almost 5,000 Operating Department Practitioners (ODP’s) - providing support and guidance to registered and unregistered practitioners.
After leading the successful review of the CODP mentor standards resulting in the publication and launch of the document at the national conference in May 2009, Hannah was approached to take up the role of Chair the Education and Standards Committee for the College of Operating Department Practitioners at the start of the year.
The Education and Standards Committee has a number of functions, responsible for setting standards for pre-registration education of ODP’s and promoting the enhancement of knowledge and skills in the developments of the profession through regional and national networks. The committee is also responsible for the annual conference and provision of study days.
Hannah said of her appointment: “I am proud to have been asked to Chair the CODP Education and Standards Committee and look forward to the challenges that this new role will present.”
