Local business men and women from across Suffolk were joined by budding business students at a social networking conference held at the UCS Waterfront Building in Ipswich on Tuesday 15 February.

Luke Brynley-Jones, one of the UK’s most experienced social networking experts, was guest speaker at the conference which was organised by UCS Business Management student Christopher Pond on behalf of the Suffolk & North Essex branch of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

Luke co-founded the UK’s first social networking consultancy in 2001, advising British Airways and the YMCA on how to facilitate online interaction between their customers. He currently spends much of his time in the UK and USA advising and lecturing to clients and social media experts.

The conference aimed to educate the audience on how best to utilise social networking in relation to promoting their goods and services. Around 55 people attended the conference which is part of a series of CMI events to be held across the region.

The next CMI event is entitled ‘Managing the Terrorism Risk’ and will take place at the UCS Waterfront Building on 7 March 2011. Entry is free of charge and places can be booked by emailing stephen@motivationmatters.co.uk or calling 01787 378851.
