Lee McQueen, winner of the 2008 series of The Apprentice, is to be among the speakers at the fifth annual conference organised by UCS students.

The final year BA (Hons) Event Management students have chosen the topical theme of Social Entrepreneurship for the conference, providing delegates with the opportunity to find out how to take the first positive steps in creating a potentially bright new future. The event has a wide appeal to those based in Suffolk and beyond, attracting the wider business community, not for profit organisations and those thinking about starting a new venture.

Speakers will cover the areas of Entrepreneurship, Social Media, Enterprise and Sustainability. Business Link customers will also speak on their own personal experiences, highlighting their highs and lows in setting up a business in a diverse range of areas.

Celia Hudson, Project Director of the Eastern Enterprise Hub, will give the keynote opening speech at the event. “This event is perfectly poised to welcome everyone to the table; to talk about and get enthused by what Social Enterprise means and what a difference it will make."

The event is being sponsored by Suffolk based White Space Design, Archant Suffolk, Business Link and Trinity Park

Neil Prentice, Managing Director of White Space Design, said: “We’re really pleased to once again be involved in supporting students of UCS in their organisation of a business focused event. This is a great, realistic experience for the students and I hope that this year’s team can build on last years excellent event which was really well attended.”

Julian Evans, Director of Digital and Business Development at Archant Suffolk, said: "Archant are delighted to play an active role in supporting this event. I have no doubt that the students from UCS will deliver an exciting, professional and inspiring event and I would urge anyone interested in the enormous opportunities around social entrepreneurship to come along and explore the possibilities."
Christine Bond, Commercial Manager of Trinity Park, is pleased to add her support to the event as one of the sponsors. "We have found the students from the Event Management course to be very professional and highly motivated. As an organisation which ploughs all of its profits back into its educational initiatives, we believe in supporting students with their work experience activities.”

The event is to be held on 25 January 2011 at Trinity Park, Suffolk’s only purpose built meeting and event centre, and will run from 10:30am until 2:00pm. Following the event, there will be further opportunities to attend workshops which will be held on topical subjects providing insight and knowledge to assist individuals and businesses alike. In addition, plenty of exhibitors will be on hand to guide and assist; whether it be from the Business Link advisors or from Celia Hodson’s team at the School of Social Entrepreneurs based in Ipswich.
