Daniel Borrett

Graduate swaps Navy for red, gold and blue

Daniel Borrett has gone from serving time ship board in the Arabian Gulf with the Royal Navy, to picking up his first class diploma in Adult Nursing at UCS within just four years.

After leaving the Navy, Daniel decided it was the right time to begin a career in nursing and he chose UCS as the perfect place to learn.

“I loved being a duty first aider in the Navy and wanted to start a new career in the health profession. With UCS being so local for me and with the great things that I had heard about it, I decided to enrol on a course there.”

“Today has been the perfect way to cap off 3 years of hard work.”

Mia Witham

UCS lecturer gains a degree of her own

Landscape and Design lecturer Mia Witham has graduated alongside some of her own students at this year’s graduation ceremonies after becoming the perfect role model for her own students when she took to practising what she preaches.

31 year old Mia, originally from Sweden, received a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Professional Studies.

“I believe that you never stop learning and ever since I completed my foundation degree, I have really wanted to continue my studies and gain an honours degree. Hopefully it sets a good example to my current students who are looking forward to a busy year ahead.”
