BA (Hons) Fine Art students from UCS showcased their talents at the sixth annual Art on the Prom fair held at Felixstowe's popular seafront promenade. The four students installed their contemporary piece of art work on the beach for visitors to enjoy. The art work, entitled ‘Home 2 Home’, was inspired by the Suffolk coastline and British traditions at the seaside.
The UCS students were commissioned to create an installation for the annual art fair by event organisers who are supported by grants from local councils and organisations as well as sponsorship from local businesses. Around 85 artists featured at the one day event on Sunday 5 September; giving thousands of visitors the chance to browse, buy and interact with original artwork.
Home 2 Home features the shell of an everyday home and is reflective of the British mentality when heading to the seaside. The piece was well received by visitors throughout the day who were able to have their photographs taken by the eye catching installation while enjoying traditional tea and cakes. The students were also on hand throughout the day to talk visitors about their inspiration for the art work.
The students have since been approached to feature the piece in a photography exhibition in Suffolk.
