Professor Jones is Professor for Experimental Orthopaedics and Biomechanics at Philipps University Marburg, Germany. His academic interest is in the mechanism(s) behind mechanosensing of bone and other tissues. During experiments on intracellular free calcium levels in bones cells by imaging techniques he started experimentation in microgravity.
